Friends of ANCHOR, in partnership with long-time supporter and fundraiser, Gillian Innes, have launched the details of their forthcoming ‘Ultimate ANCHOR Wipeout’ which is to take place at Hazlehead Park on Saturday 24th August. And of course, Friends of Hazlehead are more than happy to encourage our supporters to head down to our favourite park, have lots of fun and and support this great cause!
‘Ultimate ANCHOR Wipeout’ will see over 350 participants battle it out as they take on wet and wild challenges to raise money in a bid to help knockout cancer. The event, which is an adaption of the legendary games, It’s a Knock Out and Total Wipeout, will comprise 12 different gaming areas. Challengers will be expected to slip and slide, navigate their way through inflatables and take on giant obstacles as they battle it out to be the top of the leaderboard and walk away with the Ultimate ANCHOR Wipeout Champions Trophy.
Now the search is on for 36 teams to take part in the inaugural Ultimate ANCHOR Wipeout. Each team must comprise up to ten members, aged 16 and over. The team entry fee is £200 and in addition entrants are expected to seek a minimum of £100 sponsorship per team which will go directly to supporting the work of Friends of ANCHOR in its fight against cancer in the North-east. There are also sponsorship opportunities available for the event. For £500 an organisation will be given sole branding exposure at one of the 12 games areas of their choosing. With the challenges limited to just twelve game areas, sponsorship is expected to sell out quickly.
Spectators and supporters will be welcome to watch the Ultimate ANCHOR Wipeout and there will be children’s entertainment, stalls, a raffle and face painting on the day to make it a memorable day out for everyone involved.
PR & Fundraising Manager at Friends of ANCHOR, Sarah-Jane Hogg comments; “As a fundraising team, we are passionate about creating new and unique fundraising events for the North-east and I know this one will be no different. Not only does it promise to raise lots of much-needed funds for cancer care in the region but it provides a day out like no other.”
Every penny raised from The Ultimate ANCHOR Wipeout will go directly into helping make North-east cancer and haematology care the best it can be for those receiving treatment at the ANCHOR Unit, ARI. The charity is committed to the investment of non-NHS provided equipment, wellbeing services for both ANCHOR patients and their relatives; as well as ground-breaking research taking place at the two universities in the City.
