Within the formal park area there are several areas with distinct themes, such as heather, azalea, and rose gardens. Throughout the park there are many well established Rhododendron bushes lining most of the perimeter of the formal park. Each of these gardens provides a fantastic flower show during their flowering season, but even when not in season, they add to the park’s overall pleasant ambiance.
To help improve bio-diversity in the area there are proposals to slightly modify the gardens to provide flowering throughout the year. However, the Friends will strive to ensure the much loved special displays provided by each specific garden areas are kept!
A recent addition to the park is the planting of a Hazel tree close to the Kiosk to celebrate the launch of the Friends of Hazlehead.
